Welcome to the KEEP WARM ILLINOIS website. We launched the KEEP WARM ILLINOIS initiative to help all Illinoisans – especially the elderly, families with small children and other vulnerable residents – stay warm, healthy and safe this winter.
With record natural gas prices, Illinois households will face significantly higher heating bills this winter. Illinois households could see their heating bills jump by 70%, costing the average household $800 more to heat their homes this winter than last winter. While every family in Illinois will be affected, higher home heating costs will create a particular hardship for senior citizens and families already struggling to make ends meet.
The KEEP WARM ILLINOIS website offers a variety of tips for households and businesses to save energy and lower their utility bills, including a web-based tool to conduct a home energy audit. The KEEP WARM ILLINOIS website also provides information about state energy assistance programs and other energy-related resources as well as help in resolving utility service complaints.
Through the KEEP WARM ILLINOIS initiative I am committed to doing all I can to help Illinoisans prepare for higher home heating costs this winter season by conserving energy, weatherizing their homes and making sure that everyone in our state stays warm and healthy this winter.
