Supports 50 new jobs at new location
CHICAGO - Continuing the effort to spur economic growth in the state, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) today announced $2.6 million in incentives for Mead Johnson Nutrition Company to open a new corporate office in north suburban Glenview. Mead Johnson will create 50 jobs at the new facility. The State’s investment supports a $10.4 million commitment by Mead Johnson and comes as a part of Illinois’ comprehensive economic development strategy to create jobs and strengthen the Illinois economy.
“In spite of a recession, we are working to create new jobs and to keep Illinois business strong,” said Warren Ribley, Director Designee of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. “This investment package will not only encourage growth, it will also put people to work. By investing in global companies like Mead Johnson we are investing in the future of our state’s economy.”
Mead Johnson Nutritionals is a global leader in pediatric nutrition. The company develops, manufactures, markets and distributes more than 70 products in 50 markets worldwide primarily under the “Enfa” family of brands, including Enfamil® infant formula. The company’s new corporate office will be located in Glenview’s Gateway at the Glen at 2701 Patriot Blvd.
“Locating our corporate office in Glenview will give us the ability to access the new skills and talent we need to operate as a publicly traded company and enhance our effectiveness as a global growth company,” Mead Johnson President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen W. Golsby said. “We would also like to thank Governor Quinn and Director Ribley and his staff at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for all of their support and welcoming Mead Johnson to Illinois.”
In support of Mead Johnson’s investment, DCEO is administering a business assistance package totaling nearly $2.7 million in tax credits and exemptions through the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, which is based on the state’s income tax collections on employee salaries during the next ten years; and up to $25,000 in job training assistance through the Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP).
